I'm not sure where the 4 minute time frame comes from. I don't see anything in the code that indicates this spells last for four minutes.

It looks like the duration is determined by the mana cost plus a random value up to (10+wisdom+intelligence)/2. I need to check out some real world stats to see what those time values might look like for somebody like Glade.

I assume that this time is the number of heartbeats that the spell will last. I remember playing with heartbeat intervals a long time ago. I need to see if the current heartbeat interval is faster than it used to be. That could be why the spell seems to expire quicker than it should.
